Asaf Avidan is one of the most charismatic and enigmatic artists on the contemporary music scene. Critics have compared his work to that of legends: “he writes like Leonard Cohen, sings like Robert Plant, and possesses the charisma of a cabaret performer,” wrote The New York Times. Other voices have noted echoes of Billie Holiday, Janis Joplin, and Bob Dylan in his music, which together form a completely original, intense, and deeply emotional artistic language.

The artist has released seven studio albums, earning gold and platinum certifications in more than 15 countries. Over the past decade, he has headlined Europe’s largest festivals, while his own concert tours have consistently sold out.

His latest album, UNFURL, is an ambitious, fully orchestrated project in which jazz, film music, folk, and even rap intertwine to create an evocative musical portrait of a person losing themselves in the current of the unknown. The album was recorded at the legendary Miraval Studios, featuring a live jazz rhythm section and a 40-piece orchestra, lending the work exceptional depth and dramatic power. The material grew out of an experiment involving the recording of dreams. Avidan describes the creative process as an experience of total immersion in something vast and difficult to define—one from which it is impossible to fully return unchanged. It is an album about transformation, loss of control, and confrontation with one’s own subconscious.

During the Cavatina Guitar Festival at Cavatina Hall in Bielsko-Biała, Asaf Avidan will perform on Sunday, May 24, the second day of the festival, presenting the audience with a concert of extraordinary emotional and artistic intensity.
